What is a Ketogenic Diet?
The ketogenic diet is a diet based solely around the manipulation of carbohydrates.
A traditional ketogenic diet is one that heavily restricts daily carbohydrate intake which causes ketone bodies to be produced by the liver. The result is a shift in the body’s metabolism, as fat utilisation becomes a priority over glucose.
In essence, the goal of a ketogenic diet is to restrict the energy intake from carbohydrates in order for the body to run on fat for energy.
